I recently took part in the Alpha Course which ran for 8 weeks in Monkstown’s parish hall. The Alpha course is run with the aim of introducing the basic beliefs of Christian faith through a series of talks and small group discussions. The first Alphacourse was delivered in London in 1977 and by 2015 it was being run in 169 countries in 112 languages.
I really enjoyed taking part in the Alpha course and particularly the lively discussions that took place after each video that we were shown. The videos were delivered by the Reverend Nicky Gumble who is highly enjoyable to listen to and delivers his message in an interesting and engaging way. A wide range of topics were covered including “How Can I Have faith?”, "Why and How Do I Pray" and “Who is the Holy Spirit?”. We were activley encouraged to share our point of view and to ask questions.
Each Alpha session began with a selection of spiritual music, lots of tea, coffee and cakes. The Alpha course is very rewarding and suitable for all age groups.
